Release Blitz/Review: The Gravity of Us @BrittainyCherry

The Gravity of Us, an all-new gripping and emotional standalone from Brittainy C. Cherry is LIVE!

The Gravity of Us by Brittainy C. Cherry

Release Date: April 13th, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

My Review: 5/5

The first book I read by Brittainy was The Air Between Us, and I immediately loved her.  She has a way with words that turns a contemporary love story, into a flood of emotions.  The Gravity of Us is no different.  From the very first paragraph I was in love.

This is the fourth book in her Elements series.  Every book has touches of the 4 elements within them (air, water, fire, and earth), and this one is no different.  It tells the story of Graham, a cold-hearted, non-feeling novelist and Lucy, an emotional free-spirit.  When Graham’s wife (Lucy’s sister) leaves him and their newborn behind, Lucy helps him by caring for his daughter, Talon.

I have to just say how much I LOVED Graham!  Not only is he sexy, he cares in a different way: from a distance.  His emotions are hidden due to his fear of everyone leaving.  He is so scared to reach out and feel.  His relationships with his daughter, his mentor/old professor, and then Lucy are so endearing.  My heart went out to him!  I wanted to jump in the book and give him a hug.  I loved this character so much I’ve come to the conclusion that Graham is my NEW BOOK BOYFRIEND!  (Oh, and if the cover is any indication of what he looks like…be still my heart!)

Now, I also have to say how much I LOVED Lucy!  She is so carefree and likeable.  She wears her emotions on her sleeves and has learned to cope with life by meditation, yoga, and just feeling.  After her mother passes, she copes by caring for others (her other sister, her niece, Graham) and letting her feelings guide her through life.  Graham describes her perfectly:

“She kept repeating the words, and I narrowed my eyes, confused about who Lucy truly was as a person.  She was all over the place: flighty, random, passionate, and emotionally overcharged.  It was as if she was fully aware of her faults, and she allowed them to exist regardless.  Somehow those faults made her whole.”

The love story between Graham and Lucy is slow-progressing, which makes this book so much more than a typical romance.  It’s about self-discovery, two polar opposites learning about one another and in turn learn about themselves.

“Air above me, earth below me, fire within me, water surround me, spirit becomes me.”  Lucy says this phrase during mediation, or any time she needs to feel centered.  What a lovely quote!!  I found it so ironically perfect that this is the last book of the Elements series, and Lucy ties all of the elements into one…the spirit.  So fitting and so incredibly beautiful.

I absolutely loved this book.  I read it in one sitting and was so sad when it ended.  Brittainy has become one of my absolute favorite authors…her writings are pure gold, beautiful poetry.  Brittainy – you have outdone yourself with this book.  I absolutely cannot wait to see what you come up with next!
