My Review: 4/5

The Truth Not Spoken has everything I look for in a book.  First you have the main character, Laura.  A single mom, she is so strong and independent.  Her daughter Emily is 9, and she’s raised her on her own from the beginning.  She even has her own jewelry company.  Throughout all of the trials and tribulations in this book, she keeps her daughter at the forefront, her safety being her main concern.

Next you have the attractive friend, who helps Laura.  This is Kyle, a successful attorney from Laura’s past.  There is so much attraction between them, but with their history is it truly ok to act on it?  And, can Laura really trust Kyle?

And, of course, there’s the villain Vic.  The ultra-successful businessman who has himself in a heap of trouble.  Politics are in his future, but when scandal threatens to ruin his career he does whatever it takes to clear his name, even if it destroys Laura in the process.

There is a web of lies between the three of them.  After signing the contract years ago, promising never to reveal the father of her baby, Laura thought she was free and clear of Vic and his vicious, playboy ways.  She takes action and does whatever she can to protect her daughter, and protect the secrets she has from Vic, and Kyle.

This book was so enjoyable, I find it hard to believe it is the author’s debut novel!  While I’m not big on the cover (I know, I shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover…), the characters are strong and so likeable.  As mentioned, Laura is so strong and independent and Kyle is dashing and successful.  I also loved Laura’s best friend, and gossip queen, and Emily with her sassy, almost-teenage ways.

I recommend this book and am eagerly anticipating the author’s next one!
