The relationship between Aiden and Hailee is like a fairytale coming true. How many have dreamed of the boy next door, the one that is quirky, annoying, yet so adorable all rolled into one? The boy that you can’t stand as a child, yet becomes your best friend and the one who stands by your side through thick and thin. Until the one day you want up and realize how much you actually love him.
Aiden is a top Hollywood actor, living in the shadows of his father. Hailee is an introvert, self-conscience girl who strives to go through life unseen. However, when they take their friendship to the next level, all hell breaks loose, so to speak. Hailee is given an ultimatum, and she chooses the heartbreaking way.
This book will make you laugh, cry, and smile. Maybe it’s because their story hit a little close to home. I found myself tearing up at times….and that’s just it. The author has a way of tugging your heart strings. She always has. She brings the characters to life and while reading you feel as though you are Hailee, listening to Aiden, feeling the pain and joy she feels. So when there were parts that I could identify with because I have lived them myself, it hit even harder because of the realism Ms. Cherry brings forth.
This is a fast read with enough depth and subplots to add a little mystery. And, like all of her other books, when it’s over, you will be left with a satisfying feeling of serenity.
